Devenport est un quartier excentre d Auckland, qui est en fait separee en deux parties par Waitemata Harbour, comme son nom l indique, port naturel formant un baie peu profonde ou la ville s est constuite autour. C est une ancienne place forte qui a servie pendant la guerre 39-45 dans la bataille du pacifique....
Deux facon de s y rendre, par la route, voiture ou bus : en partant du centre ville il faut emprunter Waitemata Bridge (premiere photo), plus long pont de NZ qui fait le lien entre les deux cotes, ou quelques minutes de ferri sur la bay en partant du port.
Autant vous dire que les paysages varient du tout au tout, en quelques minutes vous passez de la bruillante ville aux hauts buildings a un genre de paisible village avec de nombreuses marinas, plages (ramassage de tellinesw des centaines sur 1m2 la folie s est emparee de moi alors j ai creuse creuse encore et rempli mon sac pour le repas du soir...et bonne en plus he he ) et etendues vertes avec bien sur un terrain de cricket et rugby.....

Devenport, located in the north hand side forms a part of Auckland city , which is actually separated in two part by Waitemata Harbour. It is a natural and few deep bay, where Auckland has been built around. It is aslo a old strong place which has served in the pacific battle during WWII (39-45 War)
Two ways to join Devenport, by car or bus you have to cross by Waitemata bridge (first picture) and to go along the bay, otherwise by ferry from the city centre in a couple of minute.
Another startling face of Auckland like a smooth village close to the city centre, without loud noise and high buildings, just beaches where i picked up an amazing hundred of little shells(*) diging sand and that we have cooked for dinner, yummy he he ( * tellines in french, I don't know in english ) and marinas and a green grass around and of course a cricket and rugby field.
Opposite to Devenport on the Ocean pacific side, you can see WAIKEIKE island, actually a volcano where I intend to go to have a glance next week end (last picture)
